A western suburb of Perth, Nedlands is only 7km from the CBD. It boasts both higher end housing and low-cost housing targeted at students of University of Western Australia, which is situated in the neighbouring suburb of Crawley. It is a well populated area with diverse residents, significant commercial areas, and entertainment and lifestyle spots to suit people from all walks of life.
It is home to a number of primary schools, and there are several public and private secondary schools nearby with easy public transport access. Stirling Highway runs through the suburb, and there are restaurants and cafes on either side. The area is well serviced with a number of local shopping areas and gourmet grocery stores. There is a large golf course in the suburb for those who enjoy a day on the green, and a number of recreational facilities in Nedlands and neighbouring inner western suburbs.
It is home to major public hospital Sir Charles Gairdner, and private and specialist facility Hollywood Hospital. It is also home to a number of aged care and residential facilities. Nedlands is a much sought-after suburb, and is populated by older couples, established younger couples, families, and students.
